VWO Corner

 

With effect from 1 June 2009,the Centre for Enabled Living Ltd has taken over the administration of the following schemes from NCSS.  This is to enable the schemes to be easily accessible by the target beneficiaries, who are mainly persons with disabilities (including frail elderly), in a convenient one-stop service centre.

  • Assistive Technology Fund
  • Caregivers Training Grant
  • Foreign Domestic Worker Levy Concession Scheme (Persons with Disability) 
  • Traffic Accident Fund

VCF Scholarship / Study Award / Traineeship

VCF Scholarship

The VCF offers both local and overseas scholarships for the study of :
  • Social work
  • Psychology
  • Counselling
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Speech Therapy

Value of Scholarship

Scholarships may be awarded in part (50%) or in full (100%). It covers the following items:

Who can qualify?

a. Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident;
b. Excellent GCE ‘A’ level and /or diploma results;
c. Good Honours degree (applicable for postgraduate scholarships);
d. Relevant work experience and strong interest to work in the social service sector.

How to apply?

To apply for the VCF Social Service Scholarship, please complete the 2-step application process:

STEP 1: Go to the BrightSparks Portal at http://www.brightsparks.com.sg to make an online application

STEP 2: Your online application must be followed with the submission of supporting documents (eg a copy of your NRIC, academic transcripts, certificates, testimonials, reference letters, etc) within 7 working days from the date of your online application. Please mail your supporting documents to: National Council of Social Service, 170 Ghim Moh Road, #01-02 Singapore 279621, Attn: Pamela Biswas, Sector Manpower Planning

Applicants must seek admission to their intended course of study on their own before submitting the scholarship application.

Bond

Upon being awarded the scholarship, scholars are required to sign a Training Deed. Applicants (including public applicants) will be emplaced with either MCYS, NCSS or at a VWO, as deemed fit by the Scholarship Panel, to fulfill their bond duration upon completion of their studies. The bond duration is as follows:

Study Award

The VCF offers study award for Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs) at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. This is a full sponsorship that covers the course fees and any other compulsory fees for Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Intervention (Special Needs).

Successful applicants who are currently at their 3rd year pursuing the Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECH) will also be supported with a monthly training allowance. In addition, they will be matched to potential Early Intervention Programmes for Infants and Children (EIPIC) centres prior to their graduation from the Diploma course. Shortlisted candidates will be notified to attend interviews for emplacement with EIPIC centres.

Who can qualify?

a. 3rd year student pursuing Diploma in Early Childhood Education at Ngee Ann Polytechnic; or
b. Existing VWO staff
who are Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.

How to apply?

Application for 2008 is closed.
 For existing VWO staff, they must seek admission to the Ngee Ann Polytechnic on their own. They must be accepted for admission before being considered for the study award. Interested applicants are required to apply through the VCF Management System.
 For the 3rd year Diploma in ECH students, please fill up the prescribed application form and mail to:

Upon being awarded the Study Award, the trainees are required to sign a Training Deed. The bond duration is as follows:

Traineeship

The VCF also offers Traineeship for NITEC in Social Services at Institute of Technical Education (ITE). This is a one-year traineeship programme at ITE. At the end of the training, the students will be awarded with a National ITE certificate (NITEC) in Social Services and attached to a VWO for a period of one year.


Value of Traineeship

This traineeship covers the course fees, registration fee, examination fees and other compulsory fees.


Who can qualify?

a. Application is open to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PRs);
b. Three GCE ‘N’ level passes (Grade 1 – 5) in English Language and two other subjects; or
c. Two GCE ‘O’ level passes (Grade 1 – 8) in any subjects.

 Application for 2008 is closed.

Upon being awarded the traineeship, the trainees are required to sign a Training Deed. The bond duration is 1 year upon completion of the course.
