MediaCorp Pte Ltd

MediaCorp’s vision is to be a company with a heart and the media company has been making a difference to the lives of a diverse group of beneficiaries, from the elderly to children with special needs. 

At least three fund-raising events are held annually, with the flagship event being the MediaCorp Charity Golf Tournament.  Donations from these events were channelled through the MediaCorp Charity Fund to MediaCorp’s adopted charities, HCA Hospice Care and Rainbow Centre-Yishun Park School.  Since 2006, about $716,000 has been raised for the two charities from over 50 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities that were participated by more than 1,000 MediaCorp staff. 

Their extensive fund-raising effort has enabled them to clinch several Community Chest Special Events and the Corporate Awards since 1984. 

The media company also contributes by providing free media space on television, radio and in print.  The scheme, which is a collaboration between NCSS and MediaCorp, has benefited more than 60 charities, saving them $1.2 million in publicity costs.

MediaCorp’s business units have also been doing their bit for charity.  Since 1996, MediaCorp radio stations have been adopting charities and promoted various activities to raise public awareness and donations.  Some of the VWOs adopted are Boys’ Town and Down Syndrome Association (Singapore).  

MediaCorp is also committed to organising activities for the beneficiaries, and have introduced the Voluntary Service Leave scheme to encourage staff participation in CSR events.  The sustained efforts in volunteering and fund-raising by MediaCorp have made an impact in the lives of many beneficiaries.
