Housing and Development Board

HDB has been an active participant in community activities since 1980. As early as 1985, it was already promoting the Social Help and Assistance Raised by Employees (SHARE) Programme to its staff. To date, staff participation rate is 92.3% with a combined donation of more than $350,000 per year.

To recognise this effort, HDB has been awarded the SHARE Programme Platinum Award every year since 1995, and in 1999, it was awarded the 10-Year Outstanding SHARE Programme Award at Platinum Level.

HDB also engages in other fund-raising activities, for instance the "Just One" Campaign to encourage SHARE donors to contribute $1 or more each month. It also participated in the HeartStrings Charity Sweep 2001 and jointly organised Friends in Concert in April 2001, which raised $28,000 for Community Chest.

HDB adopted Canossaville Children's Home in September 2001. Staff volunteer regularly with gardening and housekeeping projects, arrange excursions for the children and raise funds for the Home.

In 2001 and 2002, HDB organised many activities for senior citizens and children, which included outings and free meal sessions for the elderly, and educational trips and parties for children.

HDB also has a Staff Union. Besides participating in community activities undertaken by HDB, members, who are also HDB staff, also provided community service under various NTUC community projects.

The Care Team of Club HDB has been very active in promoting social services, encouraging staff to take part in activities organised by HDB. As such, HDB has received many volunteer awards, adding on to its reputation as a responsible corporate citizen.
