Join The Party. Give a hand!
This year marks a commemorative milestone. Community Chest celebrates
25 years of bringing hope to people, which has helped forge its enduring legacy
of compassion and commitment. True to its altruistic roots, it has set its sights on
raising $3 million to mark this special occasion.
A number of exciting activities have been planned for its anniversary
celebrations. Shaping up to be a major crowd puller is the Charity Movie Gala Preview
of the local hit Money No Enough2. Its prequel Money No Enough, released
in 1998, set the record for local films; it screened for more than 20 weeks in
Singapore cinemas and raked in some $5.8 million.
Another highlight is the Heartstrings Walk @Esplanade 2008 on August 23, held in conjunction with A Caring Community – Carnival @ Esplanade Park in celebration of 50 years of social service. Participants include beneficiaries, volunteers, staff from voluntary welfare organisations and corporations and members of the public, who will take to the streets in colourful and creative costumes in this fun walk which will end with music and performances.
In partnership with National Parks Board, Community Chest will also
be holding a Charity Tree Planting ceremony, in a new extension at Labrador Nature Reserve. National Parks Board have also kindly agreed to have it named after Community Chest. Aptly enough, the trees are symbolic representations of the lives the Community Chest and the VWOs it supports and touched in the past 25 years.
