The Lien Foundation Scholarship for Social Service Leaders


The flagship scholarship for social service leaders.

The Lien Foundation provides scholarships to support education and professional development. The Lien Foundation Scholarship for Social Service Leaders aims to groom talent, build up capability in the social service sector and develop outstanding leaders to serve the community.

The Lien Foundation Scholarship for Social Service Leaders is a prestigious postgraduate scholarship open to outstanding staff from voluntary welfare organisations (VWOs) and members of the public. We are looking for candidates with academic excellence, a notable performance record and the potential to take up leadership positions in VWOs.


Fields of Study


Scholars can pursue full-time or part-time local post-graduate studies in management and selected specialist fields such as the following at National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, UniSIM and Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy:

 

Master in Community Leadership and Social Development - NEW!

Master of Gerontology

Master of Social Work

Master in Business Administration

Master in Public Administration

Master in Public Policy


Note: The list of Masters programmes to be offered will be reviewed periodically. Submissions for courses other than the ones stated above will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

 

Value of Scholarship


The award includes tuition fees, maintenance allowance, book allowance, and any other compulsory fees.


Common Eligibility

 

Applicants who are staff of VWOs:

Outstanding track record in social services

Minimum three years of service in a VWO

Strong recommendation from Executive Director and/or Chairman/President of the governing Board

 

Applicants who are members of the public:

Possess relevant work experience (e.g. in management) with strong determination to work in the sector

Good track record in social or community services

 

Common eligibility criteria for all applicants:

Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident

Good academic results – Good Honours Degree and GCE ‘A’ Level results

Strong track record of leadership and initiation of innovative/major projects

Strong commitment to the social service sector


Conditions of Scholarship


Applicants (including public applicants) must be prepared to fulfil their bond duration in VWOs and other social service agencies upon completion of their studies, as deem fit by NCSS.

 

The bond duration depends on the nature and value of the scholarship.

Applicants must seek admission to their programme of studies before submitting the scholarship application.
