Community Chest Funding

For the Fund Allocation Guidelines of the Community Chest Fund, please click here.

Community Chest was established in 1983 to raise funds for the many social service organisations in Singapore. The public funds raised through Community Chest are channelled to programmes that provide direct social support services, and are relevant and critical to helping the disadvantaged.

The funding is guided by the community needs for services and programmes targeting the disadvantaged groups. Periodic reviews of services are done to check for viability, effectiveness and relevance of programmes. Funding criteria are guided by the need to fill service gaps, support innovative services and sustain existing services that are critical and strategic.

An Enhanced Programme Evaluation System (EPES) is put in place so that NCSS-funded VWOs can report their programme achievement periodically and remain accountable for the programme they are receiving funding for. This also ensures that NCSS remains accountable to the public for the usage of the public funds.
