“I can remember the frustration of not being able to talk. I knew what I wanted to say, but I could not get the words out, so I would just scream.”

Dr Temple Grandin, professor at Colorado State University and bestselling author.  She was diagnosed with high-functioning autism at the tender age of 2.

For some children, reaching their developmental milestones is a daily challenge due to their special needs.

However, if diagnosed early and given the right intervention, children with special needs can overcome their disabilities to reach their fullest potential.

If YOU are passionate about helping these children reach their fullest potential, then this is the right job for YOU.

What is the Early Intervention Programme for Infants & Children?

The Early Intervention Programme for Infants & Children (EIPIC) provides therapy and educational support services to children with special needs. It enhances and maximises the developmental growth potential of these children and minimises the development of secondary disabilities. The programme equips them with fine/gross motor, cognitive, communication, social, and self-help skills.

Children aged 0 to 6 with any or a combination of the following:

What do EIPIC teachers do?

As an EIPIC teacher, you will work with the children’s parents and professionals at the centre to map out Individual Education Plans for the children. You will also plan the class curriculum and conduct learning activities that will stimulate the children’s development and help them to be ready for mainstream school. Much of the children’s development will depend on you and your ability to make a positive impact in their lives will be second to none.

Projections show that about 60 additional EIPIC teachers need to be recruited annually for the next few years.

What qualifications do I need to have to be an EIPIC teacher?

Most importantly, you will need the “qualification” of passion. If you have genuine passion to be an EIPIC teacher and impact the young lives of children with special needs, then half the battle is won.

You would have an advantage if you have at least a Diploma and above, or relevant experience with children.

Training and Development

If you have the passion for an EIPIC career but are worried about a lack of relevant experience, you can set aside your worry. Upon placement into an EIPIC centre, you can look forward to a comprehensive and structured training and development programme which includes the following:

1
In-house training
