Appointment Ceremonies

 

19 Aug 2009 - 2nd Appointment Ceremony

 

Mr Lim Siew Cheng, NCSS Honorary General Secretary, awarded Centres of Specialisation certificates of appointment to Persatuan Pemudi Islam Singapura and the Society for the Physically Disabled-Assistive Technology Centre on 19 Aug 2009. The appointment ceremony was held in conjunction with the LeadersXchange Network.

 

Guests were also informed of the completion of projects by the pioneer batch of FY2007 Centres of Specialisation. More information on their respective projects is available.

 

10 Jul 2008 - Inaugural Appointment Ceremony

 

On 10 Jul 2008, NCSS held the inaugural appointment ceremony for Centres of Specialisation, in conjunction with the LeadersXchange Network. NCSS President RADM (RET) Kwek Siew Jin awarded certificates of appointment to seven VWOs that NCSS had appointed as Centres of Specialisation. They include the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, Centre for Promoting Alternatives to Violence, HCA Hospice Care, Presbyterian Community Services, Singapore Children’s Society, Students Care Service and TSAO Foundation.

Speaking to the appointed agencies, RADM (RET) Kwek commended them on their willingness to take on the mantle as leaders in their respective areas of specialisation.

 

Professional Sharing Sessions

 

23 Sep 2009 – Alzheimer’s Disease Association

Alzheimer’s Disease Association’s project was shared with 34 staff from Social Day Care Centres and Dementia Day Care Centres at a launch on 23 Sep 2009. There was a positive feedback that the guidebook has provided useful information on early dementia programme.  

 

19 Aug 2009 – TSAO Foundation

 

54 eldercare staff from 31 eldercare agencies attended the launch of TSAO Foundation’s project on 19 Aug 2009. The manual would help improve services that these agencies provide to seniors under their care with the tips on training for befriending volunteers. 

 

6 Aug 2009 – Presbyterian Community Services

 

A total of 30 professionals from 13 agencies attended the joint professional sharing session held by Presbyterian Community Services and NCSS on 6 Aug 2009.

5 Dec 2008 – Students Care Service

 

Students Care Service, together with NCSS, conducted a professional sharing session for school social work practitioners on 5 Dec 2008. Its Centre of Specialisation project was shared with fellow practitioners at this platform. Comprising mainly professionals from the School Social Work sector, a total of 46 participants attended the session.

Participants gave high ratings for the ‘quality of contents’ and ‘usefulness of the guide’. In addition, qualitative feedback suggested that the Guide was ‘spot on’ as it serves as a relevant and practical guide for school social workers at the ground. It was also considered to be comprehensive and highly applicable for the local context.
