Social Work Training Sponsorship

About the Sponsorship

MCYS and NCSS introduced a training sponsorship for the study of social work. The sponsorship is intended to provide a window into social work as a profession in the social service sector and the professional opportunities that are abound in the sector. The sponsorship will also see the building of bonds between sponsored students and their future employers so that both parties are well adjusted to one another for a fruitful working relationship.

Value and Features of the Sponsorship

The Social Work Training Sponsorship provides the following:

1

Sponsorship of tuition and examination fees

1

Provision of books and reference materials allowance

1

Matching of sponsored students to VWOs prior to graduation

1

Placed on the Scholar Management Programme

Tenure and Bond Duration

The sponsorship is tenable up to two academic years but may be extended, though not beyond three academic years. Third-year extensions are granted by the Sponsorship Panel on a limited basis for strong academic reasons and subject to support of future employers that sponsored students had been matched with.

The bond duration is proportional to the number of years of funding support received by these students as part of the sponsorship. For example, if the student is supported for one year of study, then the bond will only be for a period of one year.
